two boys hungry

I get anxious thinking about how I am going to feed two boys as they grow up. Colin already demands dinner at 4:30 when he walks in the door. No I am not even exaggerating.

The routine goes something like this:
3:30. look at the clock and think crap, dinner.  Answer emails/calls over stove.
4:00. change to make sure my husband is still attracted to me.
4:30. all the boys walk in the door.
4:31. colin: "i wanna eat"
5:15. baths
5:30. rough housing with dad to make sure colin gets all wound up before bed
5:45. demands for wanting to go outside start.
6:00. when i usually announce to my two toddlers to start winding down.
6:15. stories
6:30. bed
6:35. wine and hgtv

the kids go to bed pretty early but they are also up super early so making sure they get a full nights sleep is very important to us. Lots of people look at us wide eyed when we say bedtime is 6:30 and people are still getting home from work. But our routine works nicely for our family and fussy babies are no fun for anyone :)

The Flynns!

I've been looking forward to celebrating the wedding of my very dear friend. Everything about this celebration had Sarah's hands all over it. She is such a kind hearted, thoughtful and gentle natured friend. I wish I had recorded her sister's speech because she nailed every quality of Sarah's so gracefully. So happy Sarah found such a perfect match. Jeff is such a character and really is so thoughtful with Sarah. We had a blast and the location was just gorgeous! We've been so lucky to be on the dance floor twice over the last month with all our great friends :)

books.

Each week these two interact more and more and I love watching that happen naturally. Colin loves to read his books but never opens a book to finish it. He gets distracted by another book and then the floor becomes a mess. Evan loves books more than Colin did when he was young. He hits each page with excitement. Maybe Evan will actually sit and read a book front to back?

Great Grandchildren

Colin met his great grandparents when he was 4 months old and again at a year. It was only fair that Evan be given that same chance. Now I will not pretend this trip was easy. In fact it was exhausting. Colin is not a traveler and if he is taken out of any routine is a force to be reckoned with. Luckily he was very sweet to his great grandparents. Evan was an angel.. except for sleeping but we won't go there. It was a quick weekend but I am so glad my grandparents were able to get the chance to hold Evan in their arms. All the difficulty of traveling is worth those small moments.

Red. White. Blue

Fried chicken homemade by Carrie, kids eating buckets of watermelon and playing with the hose and some sparklers made for a great evening with friends. I do enjoy the low key holidays...

Colin & Evan: part two

I decided since I really didn't have any photos of the boys together since Evan was born that it was due. I can't wait to update some of our frames in the house. Maybe I can photoshop Justin and I in there? :)

Colin & Sunrise Shoot: part one

I am sucker for shooting at night when the light is pretty in the sky... but my kids don't last until 8 and if they did they would never sit still for the camera. They are happy in the morning and usually always both up at 6 am. I packed up some blueberries, played some music on my iphone and colin thought it was great.

Few things on Colin at 2 (27 months to be exact):

-He asks "what you doing" about 50 times a day.. It's cute the first 10 times.
-He is terrified of moving things, loud noises, rides, etc. I've never seen him run so fast up the stairs when Justin let off a tiny firework. Poor child.
-He is rough with his dad and sweet with his mom. Justin is obviously the fun parent.
-He will destroy any child that so much speaks of Evan. It's NO my baby. Its a struggle. We are working on it. His classmates see me and say "baby" and Colin seriously pushes kids to the ground before they can even look Evan's direction.
-He hates veggies.
-Loves his crib.
-Says "i do it".. no we cant help him with anything. And doing anything these days takes a little patience on our part.
-Loves loves loves the outdoors. The summer days are brutal but as long as we have some type of water he is occupied for hours.
-Has the best manners, please, thank you, welcome, bwess you
-Has he worst tantrums. WORST. It's usually over food or when we are done watching him play outside.
-If a song comes on the radio and he doesnt like it... "no want it". I swear he does this to test my patience as I shuffle through all our cds.
-I love it when he says I love you aka "ay yuv you"...really melts my heart.

morning play

Just a quiet morning when the boys are their happiest playing in pj's and watching one another. I love mornings when I can drink my coffee while Justin mows the lawn and the kids are entertaining one another. Now this is a short window, don't let me fool you. But I love that little window in the mornings.

JuneGram

June was a busy month and the easiest way for me to document all our fast paced days is to take along my iphone. It works out so nicely. I am a tad instagram obsessed. I find taking out my phone instead of the huge camera really is so much easier.. especially with that messy toddler of mine :)
